COVID-19 Hours & Alerts


The Senior Center, Parks & Rec Department & the BAM: Belleville Area Museum will remain CLOSED until further notice. All Township events and programs are canceled until further notice. For emergencies, such as water main breaks, please contact Van Buren Township Dispatch at 734-699-8930.

Due to COVID-19, all Township Administrative Office business is open BY APPOINTMENT ONLY starting Monday, January 25 until March 31, 2021. Appointment hours will be from 10am-3pm. Same-day appointments are available, but we’re encouraging residents to use the dropbox in front of Township Hall or in the Police Lobby, to pay bills online or over the phone (more information on how to pay your bills is below in the TREASURER’S office information).

If you need to come into Township Hall, we ask that you please call ahead to the appropriate office and set up an appointment. Once you arrive at Township Hall, please wait in your vehicle until your appointment time. At your appointment time, enter the front door and a screener will greet you and direct you to the corresponding office. Masks and social distancing are required at all times in Township Hall.

PARKS & RECREATION: All programming cancelled until further notice. Call for a landfill pass or yard waste sticker to be mailed to you: 734.699.8926

PUBLIC SAFETY (POLICE & FIRE): Will continue to be open 24 hours a day and respond when called upon. The Fire Department stations will be operational, but not open to the public.

PUBLIC SERVICES (BUILDING & PLANNING): Residents and contractors are strongly encouraged to mail in permits and payment instead of dropping them off at Township Hall. Blank permits are available to download off Van Buren Township’s website under “Planning & Economic Development.”

SENIOR CENTER: All programs (classes, workshops, special events) are canceled until future notice. Open for essential services only like Meals on Wheels and TEFAP.

TREASURER’S OFFICE: Encouraging residents to pay their taxes and water bills by dropping payments off in the dropbox, mailing in a check, signing up for automatic debit, calling the toll free number or paying online.  There are two DropBoxes; one in front of Township Hall or one inside the Police Lobby. If you’re paying in cash, please use the Police Lobby dropbox.
