Van Buren Park Hours: Monday-Friday 10 AM – Dusk Saturday and Sunday 8 AM – Dusk. Van Buren Park Beach & French Landing Park are CLOSED until further notice due to construction. Splash pad hours are Memorial Day to Labor Day from 11 am-8 pm, 7 days a week. The 2021 Quirk Park Splash Pad season has been extended and will close on Monday, September 20. The last Splash Pad day will be Sunday, September 19, 2021. **Hours of operation are subject to change please contact the Parks & Recreation Department.
HALLOWEEN COSTUME DRIVE & GIVE-AWAY The Costume Drive will be accepting new or gently used Halloween Costumes from September 20 - October 15, 2021 anytime from 7:30 AM - 4 PM. Costumes should be dropped off at Parks and Rec department, but due to construction, we're asking all residents to enter via the Senior Center or main entrance doors.
The Halloween Costume Give-Away will take place on October 18-22 from 4-6 PM, each day. This event is free and open to the public. Please enter via the Senior Center Dining Hall doors, near the Parks and Rec. entrance.
CANDY LOOP IS BACK! Join us for a family-friendly boo-tastic trick-or-treating event on Sat, October 23rd from 4-6 p.m. at Quirk Park. Wear your favorite costume as you walk, dance or prance to Halloween themed stations providing candy from local businesses and organizations. The event is free and open to the public, but you must register, so we can properly social distance everyone. Register at vanburen-mi.org/parks. A Rain date is set for Sat, October 30th from 4-6 p.m. Candy Loop Sponsorships ARE available We seeking local businesses and organizations to pass out candy or goodies during the event. We usually have around 1000 participates and this years event will be outside at Quirk Park on Sat, October 23 from 4-6 p.m., with a rain date set for Sat, October 30 from 4-6 p.m. If you would like to be a sponsor of this event, fill out this online form and/or contact Jennifer Zaenglein at 734-699-8921.
Pardon our Dust At the Parks Van Buren Park & French Landing are experiencing ongoing construction beginning spring of 2021 until late Summer 2021.
In Van Buren Park the “Saddle”, a portion of Van Buren Park’s road, which connects the front and back loops is currently under construction. While this project is under way it means there will be little to no access to this area. This project is part of the Iron Belle Trail and was made possible through a DNR grant. When completed, this area will be paved with a walking path!
French Landing Park will be closed starting Monday, June 7, 2021. Construction consists of site demo, prep, electrical, infrastructure needs, pathways, new sunshade, and outdoor furniture. All bathrooms will also be closed during the construction. Pavilion Rentals The rental season is from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Residents may rent pavilions starting January 1st of each year.
