Railroad Crossing Closures April 17th and April 18th
Shook Road is closed, but that should not affect other road crossings. Some delays may be experienced at the road Commision entrance.
The crew is moving the second rail train into position to begin laying rail in Romulus.
Ozga and Romaine were still working on yesterday. These roads should be opened before noon on April 19.
Next on the schedule: Inkster on April 19.
Holland Road and Beech Daly tomorrow, April 20.
The crossings will ride a little rougher until the rail crew installs the rail in June. Then, they will address patching when needed in the next few months.
On April 17th and 18th, Norfolk and Southern rail lines will close select railroad crossings for the day as part of a rail replacement project. This first phase of the replacement project should last between approximately 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. both days, and will be completed in the township by Tuesday afternoon. Please note the day and location of each closure below and adjust your route accordingly.
On Monday April 17, 2023 at approximately 10 a.m., the following crossings will be closed:
- Martz Road
- Hull Road
- Elwell Road
- Sumpter Road
- Savage Road
On Tuesday April 18, 2023 at approximately 10 a.m., the following crossings will be closed:
- Martinsville Road
- East Huron River Drive
- Haggerty Road
- Hannan Road
School bus routes will not be affected during morning pickup, but they will be affected in the afternoon. The schools have been notified and are adjusting accordingly for afternoon dropoffs.
