Board of Trustees Approves New Trustee

The Van Buren Township Board of Trustees approved Bryon Kelley as the new Trustee during the January 17th Board Meeting, filling the vacancy left open by now State Representative (District 31) Reggie Miller.

Miller's service to the Board concluded on November 15, 2022, when she was presented with a Proclamation honoring her services as Trustee at her last Board of Trustees Meeting. Following the Meeting, the remaining Board Members went to work finding candidates for a replacement.

On January 10th of this year, a Special Board of Trustees Meeting was held in which three candidates were interviewed: Bryon Kelley, John Herman, and Ashley Shukait.

After deliberation, the Board approved Bryon Kelley on the 17th, who took his seat on the Board for the remainder of the Meeting. As he joined the rest of the Trustees, Ashley Shukait pointed to him from the audience and said, in good humor, "Now I get to come bother you," drawing a laugh from Kelley.

Kelley has been a Van Buren Township resident since 2004. He was joined during the Board Meeting by his family.
